Chennai: Murugan, the main accused who allegedly masterminded the Lalithaa jewellery heist back in 2019, has died due to ill-health, reports claimed.
Earlier this year, owing to his poor health condition, a Tiruchy court had granted bail for Murugan.
At that time, his advocates had stated that bail petition was filed with the respective courts in other criminal cases booked against him, for bringing him out for better treatment of his partial paralysis.
In October 2019, a gang burgled their way into Lalitha jewellery branch in Chathiram bus stand and decamped with 13 crores worth gold, diamond and platinum ornaments.
Later, the police team found that Murugan, a history-sheeter from Tiruvarur district was connected with the burglary.
