Chennai: The Rotary Rajan Eye Bank launched an Online Eye Donation programme (Project OED) to motivate more people to pledge their eyes after their death.
Rotary Rajan Eye Bank, a project of Rotary Club of Madras T Nagar, has been conducting eye donation awareness programmes in the form of rallies, painting, drawing, quiz competitions, symposium and seminars for the past 24 years.
Dr Mohan Rajan, chairman and medical director of Rajan Eye Care Hospital, said, “the main objective of this (Project OED) is to motivate more people to come forward to pledge their eyes after death, and also to create awareness among the general population on the need of eye donation after every death.”
RI district governor Muthu Palaniappan, who launched the project, lauded the efforts of Rotary Rajan Eye Bank and Rajan Eye Care Hospital for the past 25 years in eradicating curable blindness in this part of the world.
