Chennai: Shiv Nadar Foundation has announced the launch of its third initiative in the field of higher education–Shiv Nadar University Chennai.
This the first private University to be legislated in Tamilnadu after 90 years (since Annamalai University Act in 1928), upon the passing of the Shiv Nadar University Act, 2018.
The varsity will be housed in a sprawling, vibrant campus at Kalavakkam and would be home to world-class facilities including academic and research blocks, state-of-the-art cricket stadium, library, sports centre, hostel facilitates for students and a faculty housing complex, auditorium, guest house and 24/7 internet access.
The new University was announced in a virtual media conference by Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chairperson, HCL Technologies and trustee, Shiv Nadar Foundation in the presence of Chancellor R Srinivasan, and pro-chancellor Dr Kala Vijayakumar.
Former RBI Governor Dr C Rangarajan and Dr Raj Reddy, acclaimed computer scientist, University Professor at Carnegie Mellon University and winner of the Turing Award, will be distinguished mentors at the University.
