Chennai: Following protest from multiple sections to the government’s decision to reopen schools in Tamilnadu on 16 November, the State government is likely to revisit it, sources said.
“Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will take the right decision after consulting with stakeholders,” sources added.
DMK president M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said it was highly condemnable that the AIADMK government had decided to open schools and colleges at a time a second-wave of Covid-19 spread was predicted by organisations including the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Meanwhile, the Federation of Consumer and Service Organisations, Trichy, has urged Palaniswami to withdraw decision on reopening schools and colleges.
It said that students would face the risk of contracting Covid-19 while commuting to their educational institutions.
Meanwhile, School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan has reviewed the precautionary measures to be taken for students, ahead of the reopening of schools for classes 11 and 12.
