Chennai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, whose proposed visit to Tamilnadu has become a hot topic of discussion in political circles, will take part in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the phase II project of Chennai Metro Rail during his visit to the city on 21 November.
He will also dedicate the Rs 380 crore Thervoy Kandigai reservoir in Tiruvallur district, and lay the foundation stones for a slew of infrastructure projects worth over Rs 67,000 crore during his visit to Chennai Saturday.
While Chief Minister K Palaniswami would preside the government function, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Ministers and officials would participate in it, sources said.
The State government is making elaborate arrangements at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, where social distancing norms for Covid-19 can be maintained. Officials and invitees would be allowed to participate only after the mandatory Covid tests.
Besides taking part in the government function, Amit Shah is scheduled to hold a party meeting during his visit to discuss election preparedness.
