At a time when the Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists from Sarai Kale Khan area in southeast Delhi and busted their plan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while asserting that terrorism is the ‘biggest problem’, said there was a need to ensure that countries supporting and assisting terrorists are held guilty, in an oblique reference to Pakistan.
He said this on Tuesday, while addressing the summit of five-nation grouping BRICS via videoconferencing. He also said there was a need to tackle the problem of terrorism in an organised manner.
“Terrorism is the biggest problem the world is facing. We have to ensure that the countries that support and assist the terrorists are also held guilty,” he said.
Though, Modi did not name any country, his reference is seen as directed at Pakistan, as the country, for decades, is being viewed as training ground for various terrorist organisations that work overtime against India.
In the latest incident, Abdul Latif Mir (22), a resident of Doru village in Baramulla district and Mohd. Ashraf Khatana (20), a resident of Hat Mulla village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, were nabbed on Monday night in Delhi. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said on Tuesday,Ā “On the basis of the information received, a trap was laid near Millennium Park, Sarai Kale Khan, and two suspected terrorists, who are residents of Jammu and Kashmir, were apprehended around 10.15 pm.”
Two semi-automatic pistols along with 10 live cartridges have been recovered from them, the DCP said. Strict action must be taken against not just the terrorists, but also the countries that groom them.
