Chennai: Metropolitan Transport Corporation today said that 28,360 special buses were operated during the festival season in which 13,24,553 passengers travelled.
A release from the MTC said that a revenue of Rs 5.84 crore was generated through online booking. The release said that 13,317 buses were operated before Deepavali on 11, 12 and 13 November. Out of this 8,753 buses were operated from six points from the city in which 3,97,553 passengers travelled. Similarly 4,564 buses were operated to different places in which 2,28,000 passengers travelled.
The release added that post Deepavali 4,68,000 passengers travelled back to Chennai in 10,414 buses that were operated on 15,16,17 and 18 November. Also 2,31,000 passengers travelled in 4,629 buses that were operated in other places.
The release said that 1,21,000 passengers reserved their tickets through which 5.84 crore was generated as revenue.
