Chennai: The number of coronavirus cases in the city continue to be on a decline. This morning, the tally of total positive cases was 3,199.
The city has a 97 per cent recovery rate with a high discharge rate in Anna Nagar locality. Nearly 23,167 recoveries have taken place here.
Since the lockdown, Chennai has recorded 2,17,850 cases of Covid-19, of which 2,10,769 have recovered over the months.
On 7 December, nearly 9,506 persons were tested by the Health department. It is reported that nearly 3,882 persons have died due to the viral infection.
As per records, 494 persons died in Teynampet, 438 casualties were reported in Anna Nagar and 426 deaths were recorded in Kodambakkam.
Currently, 373 persons have contracted the virus in Anna Nagar and 354 have tested positive in Kodambakkam.
Places such as Manali have the least number of cases at 43 and Shollinganallur has 73 positive cases.
Nearly, 60.86 per cent of those affected with Covid are male and 39.14 per cent are female.
The viral infection has most affected people in the age group of 50-59 with 19.43 per cent belonging to this section.
