Chennai: Narasimman, a 56-year-old resident of Kodambakkam lost his life after falling in a pit filled with rainwater near a drainage.
It is said that Narasimman who came by car had parked it near a hotel and walked on the road when he had fell into the pit.
His body has been sent to the Kilpauk Government General hospital for postmortem.
However, Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner G Prakash said that Narasimman did not die because of falling in the pit.
Prakash said that the reason behind Narasimman’s death is still not clear.
“Doctors are however feeling that he might have died due to cardiac arrest. Full details can be known only after the autopsy,” he said.
It may be recollected that a mother-daughter duo lost their life as they fell into an open storm water drain, at Mogappair in the city recently.
The deceased, Carolin Priscilla (50) and Evelyn (20) of Ayanambakkam, were riding back home on a two-wheeler after their purchase, said the police.
“Around 7.30 pm, when they were on the service road off the Maduravoyal bypass, their bike skidded and they fell into the canal,” said the police.
