Building social entrepreneurship, the way forward

Chennai: Ashoka Innovators for the Public, participated in TiE Global Summit 2020, a virtual conference of world leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and mentors.

Yashveer Singh, the Global director for Ashoka Young Changemakers, emphasised on the significance of building a society that enables social entrepreneurship, at the summit.

According to a press release, TiE Global Summit 2020, one of the largest flagship entrepreneurship three day event, from 8-10 December, was addressed and attended by government agencies, angel investors, venture capitalists, PEs, global industry leaders, global wealth entrepreneurs, thought leaders, academia, Nobel laureates, policy makers, and TiE members from global chapters.

Yashveer highlighted how Ashoka’s network supports around 4000 social entrepreneurs through Ashoka Fellowship, and their impact on millions of lives through their Fellows’ work.

He also talked about the criteria that Ashoka looks for in a social entrepreneur while selecting them as Fellows. Yashveer emphasised on learnings from collaborations amongst these social entrepreneurs to drive large scale systemic change across countries.

“We at Ashoka believe that we are living in a world of constant change, where the need and role of social entrepreneurs are rapidly growing. The experience of building and supporting youth social entrepreneurs and young changemakers has been dynamic and we will continue to work closely with them to inspire social entrepreneurship. We feel youth as social entrepreneurs can write India’s next growth story,” said Yashveer Singh, at the TiE Summit.
