Chennai: Vaishnavite shrines across the State are all set to celebrate Vaikunta Ekadasi this month.

In Triplicane, the famous Parthasarathy temple has announced that the festivities will be carried out, keeping State-enforced Covid restrictions in place.

On 25 December, Vaikunta Ekadasi day, devotees will be allowed to enter only from 6.15 am.

For darshan of the Lord, people will have to register at www.tnhrce.gov.in and avail a token based on their Aadhar proof.

Also, the temple authorities have said that those without masks shall be denied entry, and people above 65 years of age, those with diabetes or blood pressure issues, pregnant women and those with known co-morbidities are requested not to come, in view of Covid-19.

Across the State, the Srirangam Arulmigu Ranganathaswamy temple has been directed to opt for token system and online booking to allow darshan for Vaikunta Ekadasi.

The temple management was instructed by the district administration to print passes in different colours, each allowing darshan for a one-hour time slot. Devotees will not be allowed inside the temple after 8 pm, while those above 65 years and those with co-morbidities and without face masks will not be allowed.

The opening of Paramapathavasal gates will be held in the early hours of 25 December.

Also, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board of Trustees has decided to open Vaikunta Dwaram (Uttara Dwaram) of Lord Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala for 10 days starting 25 December.

The move comes after a petition filed by a devotee that TTD is not following tradition in conduct of Vaikunta Ekadasi in Tirumala.

Meanwhile, Lord Kapaleeswarar temple is gearing up for Sani Pradosham today.

The event will be streamed online through the shrine’s YouTube channel MylaporeKapaleeswarartemple, from 4.30 pm onwards.
