No winter session at Parliament due to Covid-19

Chennai: The Central government has announced that there will be no winter session of the Parliament this year, due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, all parties are in favour of scrapping the session. This is to avoid the spread of Covid.

It is learnt that the Parliament will convene directly for the Budget session in January.

Joshi had confirmed this in a letter responding to Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary’s demand for a session to discuss controversial new farm laws, against which farmers are protesting in Delhi.

The Minister said that, after discussions with all parties, a decision was taken not to call for a session this month.
