Chennai: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday filed a police complaint against Arvind Kejriwal for tearing up copies of the new farm laws.
Accusing the AAP chief of trying to instigate the protesting farmers, Delhi BJP’s IT Cell chief Abhishek Dubey, in his complaint, said, “Arvind Kejriwal is conspiring to intensify the farmers’ protest in Delhi and is also conspiring to trigger riots in the city. On 17 December, he called a special session of the Delhi Assembly. During the debate on farm issues, he violated the Constitution and tore copies of the Centre’s farm laws. This has motivated the farmers and there are attempts to trigger riots in Delhi”.
Earlier at the Assembly, the Delhi Chief Minister said, “I am pained that I have to do this. I did not intend to, but I cannot betray the farmers of my country who have been sleeping on the streets in the cold… when the temperature is just two degrees Celsius”.
Kejriwal had earlier too expressed his solidarity with the farmers. He had visited the protest site in person to oversee the arrangements and had assured the agitators of his party’s support.
