
Chennai: With political leaders of various parties are commencing their campaigns for the upcoming Tamilnadu elections, a team of officials from the Election Commission are expected to arrive in Chennai on 21 December.
Another team is already in West Bengal, it is learnt.Ā Sources said, “EC Secretary general Umesh Sinha and Deputy Election Commissioner Ashish Kundra will leave for Chennai next week. They will assess the election preparedness and will conduct consultations with various stakeholders, including meetings with all State-level EC officials. They will subsequently brief the poll panel on the preparations.”
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) has moved the HC questioning the ECās decision not to grant the torchlight symbol to the party.
Rumours are also afloat that the EC has allotted the auto rickshaw symbol for Rajinikanthās to-be launched party.
