TN CM to visit Delhi to invite PM for unveiling Jayalalitha’s memorial


Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18 January in New Delhi to invite him for the unveiling of Jayalalitha Memorial in Chennai.

This meeting also assumes significance as the two leaders are expected to discuss the upcoming Tamilnadu assembly polls, and their subsequent seat sharing.

Sources said, the memorial being built on the Marina Beach in Chennai, will be inaugurated on 24 February, the birth anniversary of the former chief minister.

Built at a cost of Rs 57.96 crore, the memorial will also have a museum and a knowledge park.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and BJP president JP Nadda are expected to visit Chennai for Pongal celebrations on 14 January.
