Chennai: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat participated in the Pongal celebration functions in the city.
Bhagwat kick-started the Pongal celebrations by visiting the Goddess Sri Kadumbadi Chinnamman Temple in Ponniammanmedu.
Addressing the gathering during the Pongal celebrations at the temple, Mohan Bhagwat expressed happiness in participating in the event.
He said no other state apart from Tamilnadu celebrated Pongal festival for three days.
He also hailed the worshipping of the Sun God and said the humankind attempted to be like the Sun.
He also stressed on the need to use ‘sweet language’ while speaking instead of fighting. He later participated in another pongal festival event at Moolakadai.
During his two-day visit, Mohan Bhagwat is also expected to meet young professionals and start-up owners and also likely to interact with dignitaries.
The RSS chief will also review the organisation’s work with local functionaries.
