
Chennai: State Food Minister R Kamaraj, who was undergoing treatment after he developed complications due to Covid-19, was discharged from a private hospital today.
Kamaraj had first tested positive during an event to distribute Pongal gifts in Tiruvarur in January.
He was admitted to the hospital and discharged 10 days later after being treated. However, two days after discharge, Kamaraj began developing breathlessness and was advised to be hospitalised again.
The Minister had been put on ventilator support and transferred for higher medical care facility.
According to Health Minister C Vijayabaskar, “He had over 95% lung wash out. Today, he has survived due to very good coordination among the doctors in public and private sector hospitals. He is reborn.”
He also said as per the advice of the doctors, Kamaraj would require two to three weeks rest at home and after that he can get back to his normal activities.
