The 18th Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) organised by Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation in association with PVR will be held between 18 and 25 February.
The venues are PVR Multiplex (formerly Sathyam Cinemas – Santham, Seasons, Six Degrees, Serene screens) & Casino Cinemas
The inaugural function would be held at PVR Multiplex – Sathyam Screen on 18 February, 2021 at 6 pm.
For Tamil films competition category, 13 films have been selected by the preview committee. They include Labour, Galtha, Soorarai Pottru, Ponmagal Vandhal, Mazhaiyil Nanaigiren, My name is Anandhan, Godfather, The Mosquito Philosophy, Chiyangal, Someday, Kalidas, Ka Pae Ranasingam and Kanni Maadam.
Thangaraj, festival director, said, ’91 films from 53 countries will be screened at the fest. The opening is THE GIRL WITH A BRACELET (France) – Locarno Film Festival (nominee). The closing film is I WAS, I AM, I WILL BE – Germany.’
Films that saw official entry in Oscars, screened in Cannes, Berlin fest, FAJR film fest, Venice fest and Rotterdam are being screened at Chennai Film Fest. There are masterclass sections conducted by eminent personalities from the film industry and literature.
On his part, Thangaraj thanked Tamilnadu government for sanctioning Rs 75 lakh for conducting the festival this year.
