Remakes have many times failed to appease masses as expectations soar high and comparisons would be heavy. Keeping it in mind, filmmaker Hemambar Jasti has managed to come up with C/O Kaadhal, a faithful a remake of the 2018 Telugu film C/O Kancharapalem without any alterations.
The film explores the concept of romance with episodes involving four sets of people of different age groups.
Remember Deepan. He acted as one of the lead in Bharathiraja’a yesteryear classic Mudhal Mariyadhai. He plays a crucial role in the movie. A kin of former Chief Minister MGR, Deepak is the stalk and cheese of the movie. Vettri, Nishesh and Mumtaz Sorcar form part of the cast.
The movie begins with a  forty nine-year-old peon  Palani (Deepan) in an government office  and his friendship with a widowed superior, a Malayali  Radha (Sonia Giri)who has been recently transferred to the village.
The next features Velu (Nishesh) a boy of ten or eleven, and his infatuation with Sunita (Shweta), the most cherubic girl in his class whose big challenge is the song she has to sing on Independence Day.
There is the story of Thaadi (Veytri), who works in a liquor shop and his obsession for Saleema (Mumtaz Sorcar)– a mystery woman for whom Thaadi waits for every day when she comes to pick up a quarter-bottle of brandy; and that of Joseph (Karthik Rathnam), a local strongman’s hired-hand, and his hate-turned-love for Bhargavi (Agra), a feisty girl from an orthodox Brahmin family. The climax holds the entire move together.
The entire cast have given their best. Deepan is a stand out with his innocent looks and a simpleton middle class man. Being single is a burden on his shoulders inflicted by people in the village. Deepan seems to pull it off well.
Hemambar manages to hit all the emotional beats in a fairly proficient manner. For those who say romance is all singing duets round the trees or couples shalingvlegs in catchy foreign locales, C/O Kadhal provides a different watch.
