Durban: One of South Africa’s greatest batsman and former captain, Faf du Plessis, has announced his retirement from Test cricket.
Du Plessis made the announcement on Wednesday, following a disastrous tour of Pakistan recently. Notably, South Africa had recently lost the Test series away from home to Pakistan.
Ever since then, Faf du Plessis’ form was under the scanner as the veteran batsman had failed miserably on the tour. However, during South Africa‘s recent tour of Sri Lanka, du Plessis had scored a scintillating century and shut his critics who have been questioning his form since last year.
“I really wanted to finish with the upcoming Test series against Australia. That would have felt like it has all come full circle. I had that clarity of mind and heart and even though the ending is not how I imagined, the clarity remains,” du Plessis told.
du Plessis plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL.
