Chennai: A delegation of foreign envoys has arrived in Srinagar on a 2-day visit to the Valley.
Envoys from Europe and Africa visited Jammu and Kashmir to assess the development work and the security situation in the union territory.
Their visit comes in the wake of successful District Development Council (DDC) and Block Development Council (BDC) elections, and revival of mainstream politics.
The delegation includes envoys from 24 nations, namely Chile, Brazil, Cuba, Bolivia, Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, EU, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Bangladesh, Malawi, Eritrea, Cote dāIvoire, Ghana, Senegal, Malaysia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan.
Tight security arrangements were put in place for the visit, and the group headed to Magam in Badgam district, located on the outskirts of Srinagar, shortly after their arrival to meet with local residents, people familiar with developments said on condition of anonymity.
