Chennai: With the number of coronavirus cases increasing in Tamil Nadu, the State government has made ‘e-pass’ mandatory for all international and domestic passengers coming from other States/UT excepting Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.

According to the latest guidelines released by the Tamilnadu Health and Family Welfare Department in the wake of the increasing number of cases in the state, business travellers on a short 72-hour trip or less than three days to TN, are now exempted from home quarantine.

However, the State now requires an e-pass, a compulsory document for all international passengers and domestic travellers, with an exception of residents of the neighbouring states of Puducherry, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, have to carry with them when they enter the State.

According to the latest guidelines, all passengers from the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil, with Tamilnadu as the final destination, should give their samples for testing before leaving the airports in Tamilnadu, even if they have tested negative for coronavirus in other Indian airports on arrival in the country.

All passengers from Europe and the Middle East (other than UK, Brazil and South Africa) should submit the Self-Declaration Form (SDF) for Covid-19 on the Air Suvidha portal before the scheduled travel into India and should declare their travel history (14 days prior to the arrival).

They should do an RT-PCR test and carry the Covid-19 test negative report before departure. The test should have been conducted within 72 hours prior to departure to India and uploaded on the portal www.newdelhiairport.in.

The automatic e-pass that could be generated on https://eregister.tnega.org doesn’t need clearance from any State authority, a government order said.
