Chennai: A day after DMK president M K Stalin promised to provide Rs 1000 per month to women if his party is voted to power, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday promised a monthly honorarium of Rs 1,500 to women heads of families and six domestic LPG cylinders per year free to every household.
Asked whether his party was following the DMKās idea, Palaniswami said the decision was a part of their partyās manifesto, discussions regarding which have been taking place over the past 10 days.
“The DMK might have made their announcement in advance after they got leaks regarding AIADMKās manifesto. It is natural to have similar ideas,” the Chief Minister said.
The AIADMK manifesto for the 6 April Assembly elections would soon be released with several more ‘satisfying’ schemes for people, he told mediapersons.
“To ensure economic equality in society, for every family, Rs 1,500 per month would be handed over to women heads of families,” the Chief Minister added.
Greeting the women, he said for their welfare, six Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders would be provided free of cost every year, but did not specify any criteria for availing these benefits.
