Chennai: The Tamilnadu government on Thursday night suspended the former Special Director-General of Police pending inquiry in a sexual harassment case.
The senior IPS officer, who is facing charges of sexual harassment made by a woman IPS officer, who had been on compulsory wait.
A couple of days ago, the Madras High Court wanted to know why was he not suspended.
The government had earlier suspended the then Chengalpattu Superintendent of Police, who was accused by the complainant of intercepting her car while she was going to meet the Home Secretary and the Director-General of Police to file a complaint and of forcing her to talk to the accused officer.
The DGP rank official had allegedly sexually harassed another IPS officer in February while he was travelling in the same car with her. In her complaint, the woman official alleged that he held her hand, kissed it and made inappropriate comments to her.
The incident allegedly took place in Karur on 21 February, 2021. On learning that she was going to file a complaint, he then ordered Chengalpattu Superintendent of Police to stop her from doing so.
