Chennai Division operates automobile loading from its two major goods yards namely Walajabad goods shed and Melpakkam good shed. These two goods shed serves as an automobile hub for the industries situated in and around Chennai.

The upgraded goods shed with much more facilities have drawn the attention of automobile firms and service providers to export their automobile consignment to other parts of the country.

During January 2021, ie., on 12.01.2021, Chennai Division dispatched its first automobile consignment to Nepal via Uttar Pradesh. A total of 125 cars of M/s Hyundai were moved by M/s IVC Logistics Limited in NMG rake of 25 wagons from Walajabad to Nautanwa, Uttar Pradesh which is closer to Nepal Border.
