New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Chhattisgarh today following Saturday’s Maoist attack in the State’s Bastar region, which claimed the lives of at least 22 security personnel.
He will hold a review meeting and meet the jawans injured in the Maoist attack led by the commander of battalion number-1 Madvi Hidma.
Twenty two security personnel were killed and 31 others injured in the gunfight with Naxals between Jonaguda and Tekalguda villages along the border of Sukma and Bijapur districts on Saturday.
Amit Shah, who was in Assam for the election campaigning, cut short his visit and returned to Delhi on Sunday. Later, Amit Shah held a high-level meeting at his residence to review the security situation in Chhattisgarh in the wake of the killing of 22 security personnel by Naxals in the state.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar and senior officials of the Home Ministry and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) attended the meeting. The home minister has spoken to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and taken stock of the situation in the state.
