Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will today chair a meeting with Ministers and senior officials to review the Covid-19 situation in the State.
According to sources, during the meeting that is being held at a time when the State is witnessing alarming rise of Covid cases, important issues will be discussed and crucial decisions will be taken.
“Things such as extending the existing restrictions and whether to conduct class 10 and 12 public exams or not will be discussed,” sources said.
Palaniswami will hold a meeting around noon at Namakkal Kavignar Maligai at the Secretariat. Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and officials of various departments are expected to take part.
A few days ago, while stating that a full lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19 would not be necessary if government guidelines are followed, Palaniswami had however said but if the number of positive cases increases, a discussion would be held with medical experts and the government would adhere to their advice.
Speaking to reporters in Salem after taking his second dose of Covid vaccine, Palaniswami said corona cases were gradually increasing, and appealed to the public to follow all guidelines.
