Chennai: With Covid-19 cases rising exponentially, the Tamilnadu government has taken a slew of decisions to control the spread.
It has been decided to ensure at least 90,000 RT-PCR tests daily to detect cases, aggressive testing in Covid-hit areas, tracing 25-30 contacts of infected persons, and holding of ‘fever camps’.
These decisions were taken at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in Chennai on Monday.
An official release said the number of RT-PCR tests done per day should not be less than 90,000. The government also said about 25-30 persons who were in contact with the corona infected person should be traced and tested.
In the statement, the Chief Minister said that officials have been instructed to conduct RT-PCR tests on at least 90,000 samples per day in Tamilnadu, and tighten the tracing and testing protocol if someone is tested positive for the coronavirus.
Palaniswami also urged all those who are eligible to get themselves vaccinated soon. Stating that people should come out of their houses only if it is essential, it added that whoever ventures out shall wear a mask without fail and maintain adequate physical distance from each other.
