Chennai: A businessman from Gujarat, who was infected with Covid-19, was airlifted to a private
hospital in Chennai for treatment after he could not get admitted to a hospital in that State.
Sources said due to siginificant surge in the second wave of coronavirus spread, all the government and private hospitals were full and Covid affected patients were finding it difficult to get admission in hospitals.
Even if they get beds, oxygen shortage poses a challenge. Hence affluent people from that State are getting admitted in private hospitals in other States.
A businessman from Surat, who tested positive for positive, was airlifted to Chennai Saturday and was admitted to a private hospital in the city.
The businessman and four of his family members landed here Saturday afternoon by a private flight.
An ambulance was kept in readiness and the businessman and his family members were shifted to the hospital.
The name of the businessman was not disclosed by the authorities.
