Mumbai: At least four persons died after a fire broke out at a private hospital in Maharashtra’s Thane district in early hours of today.
Twenty patients were under treatment at Prime Criticare Hospital, a non-Covid healthcare facility in Mumbra area of the district, when it caught fire. Six of these patients were admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Three fire engines and five ambulances were rushed to the spot and the blaze has been extinguished, the official said.
Twenty patients including six in the intensive care unit were evacuated, he said.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was informed about the tragedy.
The family of each deceased will be given a compensation of Rs. five lakh and those injured will get Rs one lakh each, he added.
