Chennai: Tamilnaduās tally of Covid-19 cases crossed 11 lakh on Tuesday, with 15,830 more persons testing positive.
Chennai continued to report the maximum number of cases and deaths in the State. By the end of the day, active cases in the city were 31,142 compared to 31,535 on Sunday.
Though the city has been adding more cases, daily recoveries have been more than fresh cases for the past two days causing the dip in active infections, health officials said.
Among the new cases were 59 passengers who had returned either from abroad or from other States. The most number of cases were among those who arrived from West Bengal (22), followed by Bihar (11) and Jharkhand (8). Seven passengers from Andhra Pradesh, four from Karnataka, and three from Assam, besides a passenger each from Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh, tested positive on arrival.
