Chennai: In view of the rising Covid-19 cases, a complete lockdown is likely to be implemented in six districts of Tamil Nadu where the spread is high.
According to sources, total curfew may be imposed in the districts of Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpet, Salem, Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode and Thoothukudi.
‘Chief Secretary Rajeev Ranjan is chairing a high level meeting today where the issue will be discussed and a decision will be taken,’ sources added.

A few days ago, the Tamilnadu government had announced that the fish and meat shops that are already shut on Sundays will now remain closed on Saturdays as well. Strict action will be taken against the violators, the state government said.
The government had already enforced a complete lockdown without any relaxations on Sundays and a night curfew between 10 pm and 4 am on weekdays that began from 20 April.
