Chennai: Tamilnadu Health Minister M Subramanian has said multi-specialty expert doctors have been teamed up to research black fungus cases and actions will be taken on their advise.
He said all necessary steps are being taken to control the spread of the fungus in the State.
The Tamilnadu government last week declared black fungus or Mucormycois as a notifiable disease.
Pointing out that the black fungus was already in existence much before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan said people with uncontrolled diabetes and consuming steroids and those in Intensive Care Units for a long time were more susceptible to the disease.
