Coimbatore: The Covid-19 pandemic has caused severe socio-economic challenges for communities across India. As the country moves towards vaccinating people, many vulnerable groups continue to struggle to have access to basic amenities of food and hygiene.
With an aim to support those most affected by the pandemic, Beiersdorf, Nivea India and United Way India have come together to help marginalised communities in Tamilnadu.
This new partnership will support local programs in nine key districts of Tamilnadu – Dharmapuri, Perambalur, Nilgiris, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Ariyalur, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai and Namakkal. These districts have been selected on the basis of the Tamilnadu Human Development Report, which states that the unemployment rate in these districts is more than three times the national average.
In addition, the program also plans to support hospitals in Chennai, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur with hygiene kits.
