Legendary singer SP Balasubramaniam’s sudden demise last year had left a void in music industry.
Today is his 75th birth anniversary. A man of many achievements, he has been recalled and remembered by his fans and friends in social media today.
A Guinness World Record holder with 40,000 songs in various Indian languages, SPB was the recipient of several prestigious awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, 6 National Awards, SPB gained international prominence with Sankarabharanam in which he sang 9 songs and earned his first National Award.
He had sing for almost four generation of actors from MGR to Dhanush. He worked with legendary composers across Indian languages. And in Tamil, several thousand songs that he crooner for Ilayaraja stands immortal.
SPB passed away on September 25, at a hospital in Chennai after getting diagnosed with COVID-19. However, he had recovered from the disease but passed away later.

In his journey for over five decades, he amazed fans with his songs, acting and dubbing skills. More so, he was also a director, television presenter and producer, they add.
In one of his posts on Instagram, he had penned, ‘The only thing better than singing is more singing’. That sums up the legend in a nutshell for us.
