Review: The Family Man 2

The series 2 of The Family Man in Amazon Prime has hit the headlines even before its release, for its trailer.

Much opposition was witnessed from Tamil leaders alleging that the  trailer portrays Eelam rebels as terrorists. There were calls for its ban too.

Amidst all controversy, came the web series. The directors Raj and DK have chosen to ride on thrill more and combine facts with fantasy.

Eventually Samantha and Manoj Bajpai with their intense portrayal makes it an engaging watch.

The nine-part series begins with  Bhaskaran (Mime Gopi) along with Deepan (Azhagam Perumal) escape Lankan Army and go abroad.

Their motto is to get their government in exile in Tamil-dominated region of the Island nation of Sri Lanka recognised by world powers. Bhaskaran is introduced as revered leader of the Tamil rebels. And there is  Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee,), the family man spy, who in series 2 quit his job at the TASC force and settled for a 9-to-5 corporate job at an IT firm. His heart is still elsewhere.

All his attempts to keep his wife (Priya Mani) and his children goes in vain.

Meanwhile lots happen between Indian and Lankan governments and the latter wants Bhaskaran’s brother in Chennai be handed over to them. Basu, the Indian Prime Minister agrees with a condition, to her counterpart in Lanka.

Enters Raji AKA Rajalaxmi, a ruthless fighter of the rebel force. She waits for orders from Bhaskaran. And they have a plan to execute for all trauma they underwent during war. She is ruthless and determined. More a sleeper cell, she comes to the fore to do what her leader orders. Meanwhile Srikant Tiwari is back to his familiar territory. It is now a cat and mouse between the two. What happens then forms the crux. And there is ISI shown extending help for rebels.

Manoj Bajpayee, leaves from where he left in part one. He is quick, pro-active,energetic,brainy and witty too. Priya Mani does the role of a confused housewife well. Both Mime Gopi and Azhagam Perumal under played their roles well. But the real scene-stealer is Samantha. She is the life and blood of The Family Man 2. At places, she lets her eyes do all talking. Sone breathtaking stunts executed well by her. The razor-sharp dialogues hold attention at places.agony of Tamils in Island nation brought out well.

All in all, The Family Man 2 is an engaging fare for those who watch fiction with little attention in facts.
