Chennai: The first consignment of Russia’s Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine reached Chennai by a private airline from Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The processing of the shipment at the Chennai airport was completed quickly and it was handed over to a transport agency, reports said, quoting airport sources.
Scheduled to be rolled out during the middle of June, the Sputnik V vaccine was granted emergency use authorisation by the Drugs Controller General of India.
The Russian jab will soon join Covishield and Covaxin, both made in India, in the country’s battle against Covid-19.
