Chennai: To ‘battle the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic’, Saveetha Medical College and Hospital has allocated a new 150 bed pediatric Covid ward with 40 ICU and 30 ventilator beds at the Thandalam campus for children.
“Saveetha Medical College and hospital has allocated and deployed a high-level pediatric Covid control team with 50 doctors and 100 nurses from all pediatric and super specialty departments. We are also procuring the necessary medicines and immunoglobulin for the treatment of Covid in children. The hospital has allocated a total of 620 Covid beds, which includes 310 oxygen beds, 50 Covid ICU beds and 100 HDU beds. We have successfully managed more than 7500 Covid patients and 900 cases in Covid ICU, which is one of the highest among private hospitals in the country. Many of our patients come from poor socio economic backgrounds, who are offered free Covid treatment through Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme,” said Dr Saveetha Rajesh, director.
