New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today highlighted the importance of practising yoga during the Covid-19 pandemic, as he addressed the lead event of International Yoga Day 2021.
He also prayed for health and well-being of people around the world. ‘Today when the entire world is fighting against Covid-19 pandemic, Yoga has become a ray of hope. For two years now, no public event has been organised in India or the world but enthusiasm for Yoga has not gone down,’ he said.
The PM added: ‘Yoga helps in self discipline, it inculcated faith in people that they could fight with this virus. Frontline warriors told me that they made yoga a tool in fighting the virus.’
‘The āYoga For Wellnessā theme on this International Yoga Day has encouraged people even more to perform yoga. I pray that every country, region, and people stay healthy,’ he added.
The Prime Minister said that even the medical science lays emphasis on the healing process, besides medical treatment, and yoga can help in it.
During Covid, several studies are going on, researching on the benefits of yoga on our body and immunity. We see that yoga and breathing exercises are being done at the beginning of online classes. This is helping children in fighting the virus, he said.
‘We do not realise Yoga’s energy because of the many divisions within us. Divisions refract in the overall personality as well. A proven way to experience realisation of oneness is yoga,’ added the PM.
