Crucial and latest Covid figures of Tamilnadu


Chennai: Tamilnadu added 5,755 Covid-19 cases and 150 deaths on Friday, when 8,132 people were discharged from the active cases registry.

At the end of the day, when there were 47,318 people under treatment for the viral infection, the cumulative case tally crossed 24.5 lakh and the toll touched 32,051.

Coimbatore recorded 698 cases, while Erode had 597 and Chennai, 350. The test positivity rate in the city has come down to about 1 per cent, while the total average positivity rate in the State is about 3.4 per cent.

As many as 150 more deaths were reported in the State, with the highest of 26 in Chennai, followed by 16 in Vellore and 13 in Tirupur. The total death toll in the State stands at 32,051.

Health Minister M Subramanian said with fewer cases of Covid-19, the cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) were also dropping. The State has so far reported 2,822 cases of black fungus, he said.
