Chennai: Expelled AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala, who spoke to party functionaries from Edappadi, the assembly constituency represented by Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami, promised to restore the party’s pride like it was under late leaders MGR and J Jayalalithaa.
Sasikala said she chose Palaniswami as leader of the Legislature Party (Chief Minister) only to recognise and acknowledge support and love showered by people of the Western Tamilnadu towards the AIADMK.
“Kongu people are extremely affectionate towards our thalaivar (MGR) and Amma ( Jayalalithaa). They are used to voting only for the AIADMK. I considered their affection and wanted to show recognition to them, so I handed over it (the post) to him. I did not have any other intention and at that time, I didn’t think anything.”
Sasikala asserted that she will never let go of the party and will set it alright. In a conversation with former AIADMK cadre Balu, who joined the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), Sasikala is heard saying: “Chinamma will never let go of the party. I will set it all right.”
