Chennai: Many vaccination centres in Chennai and several other parts of Tamilnadu were closed on Monday as there was no vaccine stock.
Situation is expected to improve in the next few days with the arrival of fresh stocks.
“It is an irony that more people want to take jab but we donāt have stock,” Health Minister M Subramanian said.
Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday urged Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan to increase the allocation of vaccines to the State and also increase the sub-allocation of vaccines for Government Institutions to 90 per cent.
In a letter to him, copies of which were released to the media, Stalin said Tamilnaduās daily performance of vaccination has tripled during the current month and the vaccine availability has emerged as the principal constraint in the last few weeks.
