Chennai: An FIR has been registered against expelled AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala at a police station in Villupuram district based on a complaint filed by former Law Minister C Ve Shanmugam that he received death threats from her supporters.

The Roshanai police have booked the case against Sasikala and 500 others in connection with the alleged death threats and abusive calls received by Shanmugam, who is AIADMK Villupuram north district secretary, earlier this month.

In his complaint, Shanmugam said that he had received over 500 calls on his mobile phone and through social media platforms.

“He (Shanmugam) filed a complaint a week ago that he received around 500 calls threatening him with death,” a police officer said and added: “We are tracking all the call details and we will issue a summons soon.”

Sasikala has been booked under four sections 506(1), 507, 109 under the Indian Penal Code and section 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
