Chennai: The total number of Covid-19 infections in Tamilnadu has surged past the 25-lakh mark to 25,00,002.
Daily coronavirus cases in the State declined to 3,715 (3,867 on Sunday).
Among these, Chennai reported 214 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 5,33,637. The State recorded 54 deaths on Monday, putting the toll at 33,059. 46 of them had succumbed due to comorbidities. A total of 4,029 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 24,32,017.
According to Health Department data, Coimbatore had the highest number of cases with 436 and 1,55,371 samples were tested.
Chief Minister MK Stalin had recently appealed to people to continue following Covid norms in spite of a dip in the number of cases and easing of restrictions that come into effect from 5 July
In a four-minute video, Stalin said if people adhere to Covid-19 protocols the virus can be kept at bay.
