Chennai: In India, those who cannot not see the relationship between their nation and women are ignorant. Anyone who disrespectfully teases or rejoices in putting down a nation’s belief will obviously have no respect for women or motherhood. Such attitudes should be nipped in the bud, says professor Vijaykumar Jayaram (VKJ)
Says VKJ, “In the name of civilisation and societal dignities we fail to acknowledge the naked truth or we send a wrong message to others. One such thing has happened in our Tamilnadu State Assembly a few days ago. Recently the rhetoric used by a Thiruchengode MLA to extrapolate on the Governor’s non usage of a national term, created confusion, adding fuel along with more burnable nonsense to an already burning nonsense bundle viz. the identity crisis, which is plaguing our nation for the last 74 years.”
“The presumed unintentional absence of Jai Hind in the Governor’s address to the newly-elected Tamilnadu Assembly members pushed social media into a frenzy, with TV debates attacking and defending the MLA’s stand and even an outcry from a Tamil speaking army Jawan.”
“If a valuable thing falls on the floor any decent person would pick it up and hand it over to the owner. Actually, what the Governor did was in Uberrima fides i.e., with utmost good faith in legal terminology. For example men may leave their women folk or valuables unattended for some time because they trust the environment to be safe. This is natural and every honourable man or woman knows it. But what if some character takes a bad advantage on such a trust? Actually, someone could have saved the Governor’s day then and there. But unfortunately the double standard cultural mindset prevailed and all hell broke loose.”
“Surprisingly such narrations are not stopped in the Assembly as it extends into social talk thus sending wrong damaging messages. I now wonder what did the chairperson do when things were going in the wrong direction? A plethora of questions arise – Do they want to send a separatism message to the people? Is there any intention to separate TN from the rest of India? Is there a public hate towards any particular language? – No, not at all, I have spoken to 1000s of local Tamils not one of them have expressed any hate towards any language whatsoever. People simply want peace and progress. Therefore, it is in the vested interests of a few political people and their blind followers to set such narratives.”
VKJ says, “We Indians from all the 28 States and 8 UTs speaking different languages consider this land – Bharath or India as our Motherland and Jai Hind is a salute hailing our entire mother land irrespective of our differences in language, creed or religions. History has two versions on the coining Jai Hind” – Zain-Ul-Abideen came up with ‘Jai Hind’ and Netaji Bose gladly accepted it and the other one is the term Jai Hind was initially coined by Chempakaraman Pillai in 1907.”
‘Jai Hind – The hailing of glory to our motherland has been done by all our past and current Presidents, PMs, CMs and right up to the last army jawan who gave the supreme sacrifice.
Well after all, the current TN government is promoting the united terminology concept for Union Government is it not? Or are they up to implying that the Union government is seen as a Singular government? In Tamil the meaning of Ondriya Arasu is Union government, but the term Ondriya can also connote to singleness. Thank God, the honorable Madras High Court was able to adjudicate the issue in time.
