Chennai: Fresh cases in Tamilnadu dropped further to 1,891 on Wednesday night, when all district had fewer than 200 cases each. This pushed the case tally to 25.41 lakh.

Five districts — Coimbatore, Erode, Chennai, Salem and Chengalpattu — saw over 100 fresh cases each. Coimbatore reported 183 cases, while Erode saw a small rise in infections from 129 on Tuesday to 141 on Wednesday.

The State recorded 27 deaths on Wednesday, putting the state toll at 33,809. A total of 2,423 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 24,81,201.

Of 1.85 crore doses administered at public vaccination centres in the state so far, 1.49 lakh doses were given on Wednesday. at least 13 lakh people have received the vaccines at private hospitals since 1 May, taking the vaccination doses tally in the State to 1.98 crore.

In the last 24 hours, 1,41,248 samples were tested, taking the total figure to 3,59,68,166. A total of 3,51,02,736 people have been tested so far.
