Chennai: Raids were conducted at all the nine Central prisons in Tamilnadu this morning, including the Puzhal jail in the city.
Sources said special teams from the police department carried out the inspection to find out whether prisoners were in possession of cellphones, ganja, weapons and contrabands etc.
A 100-member team headed by Madhavaram Assistant Commissioner Sundaravadhanam conducted raids at Puzhal prison.
Similar raids were also held at the Central prisons in Cuddalore, Salem, Madurai and Palayamkottai.
