TN forms task force to protect kids from Covid

Chennai: At a time when the third wave of coronavirus is expected to affect the children, Tamilnadu government has formed a special team to safeguard young ones as a precautionary measure.

The 13-member team will be headed by Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan. A Government Order said that the State level task force committee will advise the government on issues related to paediatric care of Covid cases, its prevention, treatment and also update government with the latest on translational research on the subject and any other connected issues.

“The task force could also be a sub taskforce under the overall State Covid-19 task force constituted earlier. The task force will meet as and when necessary and send advisory to government,” the GO added.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Ma Subramanian said measures are being taken to ensure that State becomes completely free of corona.

He added that corona testing has been increased in the State. It may be noted that fresh Covid-19 cases in Tamilnadu rose to 1,997 on Thursday night, pushing the caseload to 25,69,398, while 33 people succumbed to the virus, aggregating to 34,230 fatalities.
