Chennai: The 100th day of the newly formed government falls on 15 August on Independence Day during which Chief Minister M K Stalin will hoist the National Flag at the Fort St George. Stalin assumed office on 7 May. This has come as a double joy for the DMK leader who has ordered that action should be taken on all the petitions collected under the ‘CM in your constituency’ scheme

With the local body elections expected to be held next month, Stalin has said that the people’s confidence in this government should be increased and it can be done by taking action on the petitions received under the scheme.

The scheme which was originally called ‘Stalin in your constituency’ was introduced by Stalin during the campaign for the Assembly elections. He said that action will be taken within 100 days on the petitions received under this scheme.

After coming to power, this scheme was renamed as ‘CM in your constituency’ and a separate department headed by a IAS officer was formed.

It is also said that Stalin is determined to announce a few important schemes during the upcoming budget session that were promised by him during the election campaign.

Sources said that announcements such as increase in senior citizens pension, monthly reading of electricity bill, formation of new corporations and women oriented schemes are expected to be announced during the budget session.

Tamilnadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu has announced that the revised Budget session which commences on 13 August will be held till 21 September.

The decision on the duration of the session was taken after the Business Advisory Committee meeting held today, Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan said in a release.

The Budget will be presented by Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarjan on 13 August.

Following this, Agriculture Minister MRK Paneerselvam will table the Agriculture Budget on 14 August.
