Chennai: With the Madras High Court directing the CBI to work on arresting all those accused in the Pollachi sexual abuse case so the trial can begin in the first week of September, the CBI is gearing up to nab more people.
The court on Wednesday observed that Mahatma Gandhi envisaged a day when women could walk fearlessly even at night, but now, the situation is so ‘pathetic’ that women canāt even do so during the day.
The court directed the CBI to make earnest efforts to arrest all the accused in the 2019 Pollachi sexual abuse case.
Justice M Dhandapani issued the direction while dismissing a bail petition filed by the eighth accused, K Arulanantham, arrested in January this year.
The Judge ordered that the Mahila court in Coimbatore must conduct the trial on a day-to-day basis and complete it within six months.
